The Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) will be held on July 21, 2013. The Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges' Association (KPPGCA), that
conducts the KMAT has announced the schedule of the entrance test at a
meeting of its stakeholders on Wednesday. This comes in the wake of the
Supreme Court judgement that colleges affiliated to universities do not
need approval from the AICTE to conduct MBA and MCA courses. The State
government had declared that the AICTE's national-level entrance test,
CMAT would be the only gateway for admissions to all MBA and MCA courses
in the State. Thus, the annual Post Graduate Common Admission Test
(PGCET) for MBA and MCA was withdrawn by the State this year.
The Association had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking permission to conduct the KMAT in view of the Supreme Court order. "On May 9, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy passed an interim order and granted our prayer to go ahead with the KMAT," said Dr M Prakash, Secretary, KPPGCA.
Those who have missed Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission to MBA course for this year need not worry as the high court has permitted KMAT which is scheduled to be held on July 21.
Basavaraj Kudachimutt, director, Bharatesh Education Trust's Global
Business School said, " Candidates desirous to taking admission to MBA
and MCA courses in 169 member colleges can appear for KMAT on July 21.
There are no government quota seats in any of these colleges this time.
Only 12,000 students took first two tests of the CMAT, and around 5,800
have registered for the third test on May 19. Even out of these, many
may not actually write the exam as it clashed with university exams.
There is possibility of 24,500 seats going vacant ".
